Our History

We love restaurants as much as you do. That’s why we’ve been helping them fill tables since 1947. Welcome to Lil’ Dizzy’s Cafe

The Man Behind The Food

At Lil’ Dizzy’s, producing great fried chicken is a matter of historical pride.Owner Wayne Baquet learned the restaurant trade from his father Eddie, namesake of the legendary 7th Ward restaurant Eddie’s, who got into the business in the 1940s working at Paul Gross Chicken Coop with his aunt, Ada Baquet Gross. Lil’ Dizzy’s is the only Baquet-owned restaurant still going, and Wayne is serious about doing the Creole-Soul tradition proud.read more

Man Behind The Dizzy Name

After stepping away from the restaurant industry in 2002, Wayne got restless and began think about opening a new restaurant.  At that time, Wayne Baquet’s grandson, Zachary Baquet, was a talented trumpeter in the band at St. Augustine High School. Wayne decided to give his new idea his grandson’s namesake. He named his new, iconic restaurant, nestled in the heart of New Orleans, “Lil Dizzy’s Café.

Lil’ Dizzy’s Cafe opened in 2005 on the corner of Esplanade  Avenue and N. Robertson Street not too far from where the Chicken Coop once stood.
